The Inter-Americana Highway with astounding views transports you from San Jose to San Isidro de El General. Cerro de la Muerte or "Mountain of Death" rises to over 11,000 feet (3,300 m) providing spectacular views before you travel down into the Valle de El General to the popular city of San Isidro de El General.

San Isidro serves as the main market for refueling and supplies before venturing off to more remote locations such as Chirripó National Park.

To the southwest is Dominical a beautiful pacific jewel that is known for great surfing.
